I have accepted the challenge of writing EVERY day for 31 days straight. It started December 1st, but today, December 2, is my first post. Have you ever accepted or set a goal for yourself and failed on day one? I have so many times before. It seems as if one feels bad or guilty for a couple days and then -- poof -- the guilt and perhaps remembrance of that goal is gone. So is life. (I do promise to end this on a happy note!)
Challenges are great, they are a way to expand your horizon or achieve a long desired goal. One of my favorites was to fill a trash bag every week for six consecutive weeks of items to give to charity or toss. I didn't know I had so much stuff. I found a couple high school outfits I use to tell myself, "Well, one day I will wear this again. I love it and hate to get rid of it. It's like new." After nearly 15 years, it went to charity.
Some challenges are spiritual ones. A Bible calendar to help you read from Genesis to Revelation in a year. How many times does one "not feel good" and skip over that. Some spiritual challenges are to just do right when sinning can feel so much better.
Life it tough. I don't know one person who would say, "My life has been so easy, too easy at that." We all have challenges. Sometimes it is emotional. If I can get through today, I can get through anything.
And with that, I will leave you with this thought... the positive one. Regardless of what challenge you are facing today, whether it be a fun one (such as writing every day), improving health, or spending more time with the Lord, remember... "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:13
Sarah
P.S. When a quilting project become the biggest challenge of the century, put it away for awhile then come back to it. Perhaps in the meantime, you will run into a new technique which will solve the problem of the challenge of the century quilt. You know you all have one... I do.
